Trip Information

Best Time

If you are considering embarking on the Everest Base Camp Bed and Breakfast, choose the right season that perfectly aligns with your expectations for the travel experience. As in Nepal, each season offers a distinct experience, even when traveling to the same destination.

Spring

Spring is considered an ideal season for traveling in the Everest region. The daytime temperature is around 15°C to 20°C at lower altitudes, while it can get chilly, especially at nighttime, as you climb higher. You will see a colorful display of rhododendrons and wildflowers as you pass through the jungles, making the trip even more beautiful.

Autumn or Fall

Similarly, autumn is the second-best season for embarking on the Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast adventure, thanks to the clear skies that offer unobstructed vistas of the panoramic, snow-covered Himalayas. You will see the trails very much alive with energy and passion, as trekkers from all over the globe come to experience the region at its best.

Winter

The winter or cold season is suitable for those adventurers who prefer solitude in the Himalayas. However, this season comes with limitations, such as extreme cold and snowfall, especially at the higher altitudes of the Solu Khumbu region. Therefore, it is advisable to visit this place with thorough preparation to minimize potential risks.

Summer

Summer is not advisable for planning the Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast journey. Summer brings heavy rain, cloudy skies throughout the whole day, and slippery paths. Flights can be postponed or canceled due to poor weather, a common risk when flying. Nonetheless, the Everest region will be less crowded, which is suited for the people who want to take the next level and face unknown challenges.

Elevation and distance

On this Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast adventure, your real trekking journey begins in Lukla, situated at a height of 2,860 meters above sea level. From here, you will pass through Namche Bazaar at 3440 meters, Tengboche at 3870 meters, and Dingboche at 4360 meters.

You will stand at the base of Mount Everest at 5364 meters, where you will see the close-up views of the mountains. Kala Patthar is the tallest point you will visit, located at 5545 meters, from which you can witness the iconic sunrise. This journey takes you above 5,000 meters, so be sure to stay hydrated at all times to avoid acute mountain sickness.

Similarly, you will walk roughly about 130 km or 81 miles (round trip) on this Everest Base Camp Bed and Breakfast itinerary in the Everest region. You will trek approximately 65 km (40 miles) from Lukla to reach the EBC. On the other hand, you will walk approximately 50 km (31 miles) from Pheriche to head back to Lukla on the return journey.

Difficulty and altitude sickness

Hiking in the Everest region is not an easy task when you are trekking for almost 2 weeks. On the Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast cost package, trekkers need to hike 5 to 6 hours daily over rugged, often steep terrain. So, whether you’re a novice or an experienced hiker, you must train yourself to improve your stamina and strength.

Another challenge when walking in the mountains is the unpredictable weather, which can change quickly, particularly in higher elevations, making your journey even tougher than it already is. So, you should pack the right gear to cope with any weather conditions comfortably.

Additionally, altitude sickness is another significant issue that can affect anyone when reaching higher elevations due to lower oxygen levels. One effective way to stay safe is to acclimate properly. Moreover, you must consume a lot of water, avoid bad habits, and maintain a diet.

Maximum and minimum walk per day

On this 13-day Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast journey, trekkers are required to walk approximately 5 to 6 hours daily. Therefore, it is essential to be physically fit and well-prepared before embarking on this thrilling mountain trip. The least walking per day is approximately three to four hours, which occurs on day 3, when walking from Lukla to Phakding on the first day of the trek.

On the other hand, the longest walk per day is up to seven to eight hours on days 9 and 10, when trekking to Everest Base Camp, passing through Gorak Shep Village and again walking back to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay, and when trekking to Kala Patthar from Gorak Shep and then hiking down to Pheriche Village.

Accommodation, Food and Drink

During this Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast cost package, you will stay in a hotel for 2 nights in Kathmandu with bed and breakfast. Here, you will be provided with all the standard facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. Similarly, in the Solu Khumbu region, while trekking, you will stay in teahouses and lodges for 11 nights, with three meals provided daily.

At teahouses or lodges, you will sleep in twin-sharing on a bed basis. Although the furniture in the room is minimal, you still get a cozy room for sleeping comfortably and warmly at night. On the other hand, you will have the opportunity to try a mix of Nepali, Continental, and Tibetan dishes. The special thing about this trekking package is that you get to choose the food dishes available in the teahouses as per your preference.

However, the Everest Base Camp Bed and Breakfast package doesn’t cover the lunch and dinner costs in Kathmandu. Similarly, all types of drinks except water are excluded from the package. You will be required to pay separately if you wish to purchase other beverages.

Gadgets charging and the Internet

Most teahouses and hotels have electricity to charge your electronic devices.  However, because the source of electricity is solar energy, you cannot rely only on it, as the weather in the Everest region varies frequently. Therefore, blackouts are prevalent. Similarly, if you want to charge your device, you will still need to pay a usage fee. So, pack power banks in case there is no power.

On the other hand, Wi-Fi is available, especially in lowland villages like Lukla and Namche Bazaar. However, the internet connection may not be as stable as you are accustomed to. So, purchase a SIM card for connection and internet service, even when you’re trekking.

Permit

To trek to EBC, you first need to obtain the Sagarmatha National Park Permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit. Every traveler, whether alone or in a team, should have these permits with them.

If you do not have the necessary papers, you will not be allowed to proceed. Therefore, it is essential to manage the permits before you begin your Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast package journey to avoid any unforeseen delays that may occur.

What to expect from this trip?

If you want to capture the Everest region in its full glory, then embark on this incredible 13-day Everest Base Camp Trek Bed and Breakfast adventure. This trip offers breathtaking panoramic views and a cozy teahouse in which to stay. You will pass through gorgeous settlements such as Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Dingboche, all of which have both Sherpa culture and an alpine style that you will undoubtedly enjoy once you arrive in Lukla.

You will have the opportunity to engage with local people while passing through magnificent, green rhododendron forests, and finally crossing the hanging bridges along the way. The memories of your ascent to Everest Base Camp, equally impressive with the sun rising from Kala Patthar and the view from the mountain, where you can see Everest from the closest point, will be lasting.

This trek is explicitly designed for both experienced and beginner hikers with good fitness; it is an efficient way to discover the local culture while enjoying the Himalayan landscape to the fullest. You should be ready for the Sherpa kindness, extraordinary local dishes, and the sights that will never be forgotten. So, you don’t need to worry about what to expect; just enjoy each day, which will surpass your assumptions with happy memories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Of course, there is. You can skip a commercial flight by taking a helicopter ride to Lukla, which may be more expensive but offers a more comfortable and scenic experience. Similarly, if you have extra time, you can also choose to trek in or out via the route from Phaplu or Jiri.

You are still advised to have effective travel insurance that will cover mountain trekking, high altitude, medical emergencies, helicopter evacuation, and trip cancellations or delays due to bad weather. With travel insurance, you can have peace of mind that if your schedule changes due to an unexpected situation, you won’t be out of pocket for a large amount of money.

The trails are crowded during peak seasons, such as fall and spring. We recommend booking early to secure flights and accommodations, ensuring a smooth travel experience.

Of course! With some basic fitness and a couple of months of training, people who have never done it before can visit Everest Base Camp without having any problems. And most importantly, you will be accompanied by the best professional guides for much of your way on this exciting adventure through the mountains.

Yes, you need to be physically fit for this journey, but you don’t need prior high-elevation trekking experience. Being fit is a necessary criterion for traveling in the Everest region. Without being fit, you will not be able to complete the journey due to the rocky, steep, and challenging paths, as well as unpredictable weather.
